2019 Marching Indians Summer Schedule Information
There are a number of camps, clinics, and practices that will take place over the summer to prepare for the 2018 marching season. For all of the following dates and times, members will report to the band room. The emphasis of band camp is to practice marching fundamentals, playing fundamentals, and to learn the show music and drill for the upcoming marching season.
Band camp is mandatory for all members of the marching band. Students that do not attend camp will be removed from the marching band. The schedule for band camp is as follows:

July 22 9:30 am-3:00 pm Leadership Clinic
7:00 pm Mandatory informational meeting for ALL students and parents.
The doors to the VPAC will open at 5:30 pm to collect payments and
paperwork.
July 23 7:30 am-12:00 pm Percussion, Color Guard and Leadership report to camp.
July 24-25 7:30 am-12:00 pm All students report to camp
July 29-Aug. 1 7:30 am-12:00 pm All students report to camp
August 6 5:00-8:00 pm Marching Band Rehearsal
August 8 5:00-8:00 pm Marching Band Rehearsal

What to Bring to Camp

Lyre--can be purchased at Troll Music or online.
A 1-inch three-ring binder with 20 clear plastic sheets holders.
Proper clothing-We will be spending a great deal of time outside.
-Tennis shoes are mandatory for marching band at all times.
-Everyone must wear shirts at all times.
-Shorts and hats are highly recommended.

Water bottle or sports drinks
Snacks
***Any family that can donate snacks and sports drink mix for band camp would be much appreciated. Donations
can be dropped off at the meeting on the evening of July 22. Thank you!

Parent/Student Informational Meeting

*This is a required meeting for all students and their parents in the marching band.
*The meeting will take place in the Venice Performing Arts Center.
*The purpose of the meeting is to:
1. Address the goals and expectations of the marching band.
2. Introduce new band parents to the Band Boosters and encourage a spirit of volunteerism to support the students' music education.
3. Layout details concerning chaperoning, Fair Share, volunteering, fundraising, marching band uniforms, schedules, handbook, etc.
4. Turn in all Sarasota County School Board forms required to travel with the band. These forms will be passed out during the first week of camp.

Money Due at the July 22 Meeting
Amount Section Description
$50.00 All Marchers This is the first portion of the Fair Share. (see below for a brief description of Fair Share.)
$30.00 All Marchers This is the cost for a new pair of performance shoes. You will only pay this if you need a new pair of shoes. Returners need to try on their old shoes
before the meeting so you know if you need to order a new pair.
$50.00 Winds and Percussion Students in the wind and percussion sections must own their own set of bibs (marching uniform pants). You only pay this fee if you need a new set of bibs.

$50.00 Percussion This fee is to help cover the cost of sticks, mallets, drum heads, etc.
$125.00 Color Guard All members of the color guard will purchase their performance uniform. This same uniform will be used every year so, provided the uniform stays in good shape and fits, members would be able to wear the same uniform for every year they are on the team.
$60.00 Color Guard All members of the color guard will also purchase their own warm up uniform. This same uniform will be used every year so, provided the uniform stays in good shape and fits, members would be able to wear the same uniform for every year they are on the team.

Fair Share
All members of the marching band must raise $225.00 for the school year. Fair Share helps to pay for the marching band staff, music, drill, transportation, equipment, etc. This money may be paid out of pocket or by participating in band fundraisers during the course of the school year. More information will be passed out about the Fair Share at the July 22 meeting and when school starts.
